27 February 2007 - Job notification
You will now be notified by email when your queued jobs finish.
27 February 2007 - guidestars - New bad guide star flagger
New service checks a catalogue of candidate guide stars for high proper motion on USNO-B, and for large disparities in reported position between USNO-B and 2MASS. You need to be logged in to use it since the job is batched.
08 January 2007 - More registered user benefits
Registered users can now run jobs that would have exceeded the usual time limit. The jobs are run in the background, and users can retrieve the results later. They can also designate columns to be ID, RA, dec, and positional uncertainty columns. Notification and new cross-matching algorithm coming up. Please note that there were a large number of structural changes made to the code, so the system might be particularly flaky.
29 November 2006 - User accounts now available
Optional user accounts have now been added. At the moment, they allow you to keep catalogues accross sessions. Long running jobs, like big crossmatches, will only be available to registered users. Register here
12 October 2006 - software - Software package list
To go along with the catalogue sources, a new page listing the software being used in the system is now reachable from the front page. This list is not complete yet.
12 October 2006 - datasources - Catalogue sources list
A new page listing the sources of all the catalogues in the system is now accessible from the main page.
12 October 2006 - SUMSS catalogue updated to 1.7
The SUMSS catalogue has been updated to v1.7. Its cross-match regions are now much larger too.
18 September 2006 - NVSS and FIRST cross-matches updated
The NVSS and FIRST catalogues have been re-cross-matched with the other catalogues taking into account the object sizes. This leads to a much larger number of candidates for the NVSS catalogue.
12 September 2006 - Output column selection added
The output columns in both the cone-search and cross-matching pages can now be selected. Look for it under the "Select columns to display" flap.
04 September 2006 - Updated HICAT
David picked up that an old version of the HIPASS catalogue was loaded. New version loaded now.
08 August 2006 - 1XMM added to the system catalogues
The XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Catalogue (1XMM) has been added to the system and should be available to use in all our services
31 July 2006 - nearestneighbour - More flexible input
When uploading or typing in a catalogue in CSV format, the column no longer have to be reordered as long as the ID, RA and dec column headers are named appropriately (see the 'Upload formats' flap in the nearest neighbours page)
31 July 2006 - Galactic coordinates
Galactic coordinates can now be used when specifying the center of a conesearch or the match area limits on the nearest neighbours page. Note that in the case of specifying match area limits, this could have a large performance penalty if the catalogues being matched are large, independent of the size of the match area.
26 July 2006 - Stable/development server split
The code has forked into a stable and development branch (yes, it should have happened earlier) so the server should be mostly working from now on.
25 July 2006 - 2MASS added to system catalogues
The 2MASS catalogue has been loaded into the system and can be used with any one of our services. This is a very large catalogue so unexpected behaviour might emerge. If nothing else, operations involving 2MASS will be slower, so patience might be required. Please do email with any problems if you find any.
24 July 2006 - nearestneighbour - Limits on match area
Limits to the section of the sky that is matched can now be specified (in RA and dec only for now). You can choose to limit just one of the dimensions by leaving the other blank.
24 July 2006 - Cross-matching page "deprecated"
The crossmatching page has been taken off the main list. Nearest-neighbour should be used instead.
19 July 2006 - 2dFGRS added to the system catalogues
The best observations set from the 2dFGRS catalogue, retrieved from http://mcp1.anu.edu.au/~TDFgg/Public/Release/SpecCat/index.html, have been loaded onto the system and are available to be searched on every one of our services
19 July 2006 - nearestneighbour - Type or paste catalogues
Catalogues can now be specified on a text box. It accepts the same input as if an ASCII file (CSV or roughly column based) had been uploaded.
17 July 2006 - news - News page created
News about the site, mostly upgraded/finetuned/changed features, will appear here
